Injection Molding

For injection molding machines of 2000 tons and larger, this Wheelift mold handling transporter has the capacity to carry two 70-ton molds. The transporter will travel to a remote storage or mold maintenance area — be loaded with a mold then travel narrow aisle paths to the production area. With the transporter’s two powered roller decks, the operator will drive into general alignment with the mold to be removed. The transporter will then move straight sideways into alignment positioning. Corner mounted outrigger jacks then lift the mold transfer deck to match the machine platen roller height.. The spent mold is propelled by power rollers onto the transporter and secured. The jacks then are used to lower the transporter to the floor and the transporter indexes sideway to align the replacement mold. The jacks again lift the new mold to the alignment elevation, and power roll the mold into the machine.
With a typical 7 to 15 minute unload/load cycle time, the plant obtains negligible out of service time. The degree and timing to which a quick mold change is obtained for molds of these weights, simply can not be found with any other method.
