With the Wheelift axle technology, Doerfer has rewritten the book on “heavy capacity” AGVs and Transporters. In this illustration rather than battery power, this 18” overall height vehicle is powered by a robust LP gas engine driving a 480 volt AC generator.  These particular units have rated capacities of 57 tons and are designed for rugged in-door and out-door plant conditions.  These self-loading unit load carriers operate on virtually any type of floor condition, including ramps, in-floor rails and on much thinner floor slabs than would otherwise be possible.  When operating in tandem with three or four other unit load transporters under very large loads the separation distance between units is measured by laser to verify and in-put the geometry for multi axle algorithm calculations in the SynchroSteer computerized steering control.
