Flexible manufacturing is the keyword to applying Wheelift transporters. When it comes to moving very heavy assemblies inside a plant, Wheelift is rewriting the book on handling methods. In this “Real World” illustration, this customer is moving loads that can range to 200 tons. Their long product frames are assembled in tightly confined spaces and are moved often. As in three triple-carry configuration illustrated, the transporters can be positioned parallel and/or perpendicular. The transporters drive under and exit from any direction and are wirelessly driven to positions to best suit the CG and the spaces available. When the edges of the transporters are aligned parallel with the load’s frame members, laser measuring devices establish the exact distance between the transporters. The operator selects from a screen layout of each possible predetermined pattern of twin and triple transporter positions. When parallel and perpendicular alignment with the load is visually established, the laser input on separation distance allows the SynchroSteer computer to instantly automatically and precisely calculate the required wheel geometry. As in the illustration, the load is now carried by emulating a single twelve axle transporter. While positioning is critical, the alignment time is quick and the maneuverability is incredible. |
