Largely because all Wheelift transporters require full electronic control to handle steering and other critical functionality, most of the base ingredients are already present for going to fully automatic guidance control.  Most transporters are already operated wirelessly from a “belly pack” hand-held wireless controller.  Of course AGV versions require additional space to house the navigation components.
